Does the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge work in the original Cricut?

I know nothing about the Cricut machine, I'll buy this as a present. I heard that the Wild Card cartridge does not work with the original machinery, smaller. Is this true and is there a way around it? It resembles one of the better rounds, but I do not buy it if it will not work on the machine my friend. Thank You! All cartridges work with all machines. Some sections appear better when you can cut it smaller, but they all work in all machines.
